Norwich Heart, Heritage Economic & Regeneration Trust

International HEART

HEART acts as a best practice model nationally and internationally for developing heritage as a vehicle for social and economic regeneration.

We also want Norwich to be recognised globally as one of Europe‘s finest heritage cities. In fact we have secured HEART‘s entry to the prestigious League of Historical Cities as England‘s first member city.

We facilitated the ICOMOS (International Council on Monuments and Sites) Conference in Norwich in 2008 and the Norwich Declaration which was endorsed at their international conference in Quebec.

We frequently contribute to reports and papers on heritage-led regeneration and associated topics and HEART‘s chief executive Michael Loveday is also regularly invited to speak at various conferences and events across the country and around the world about HEART‘s work. Examples include:

  • English Historic Towns Forum
  • Euro Cities, Poland
  • European Institute of Cultural Routes, Luxembourg
  • Heritage Link
  • The British High Commission for Canada and the McGill Institute for the Study of Canada
  • The Department of Culture, Media and Sport‘s Architecture and Historic Environment Division
  • The International Federation for Housing and Planning in Oslo
  • The Indian National Trust
  • The International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in the UK and Norway
  • The Irish Heritage Council
  • The Prince‘s Trust
  • The Royal Town Planning Institute
  • The UK Historic Environment Research Group
  • The United States National Parks Service
  • The Walled Towns Friendship League, Ireland
