Dragon Festival Volunteer Roles

Event Facilitation, Brochure Distribution and Stewarding:
Dragon Festival stewards take on a variety of responsibilities and act as representatives, answering queries, setting up for events and encouraging people to participate in other Dragon Festival activities. This role involves confident communication when dealing with members of the public. Stewards will distribute festival brochures to various venues throughout Norwich and help by asking people to fill in feedback forms during their visit.

Social Media and Photography:
A new exciting task Dragon Handlers can get involved in this year will be acting as online representatives of Norwich HEART by writing Dragon Festival blogs leading up to the event and updating Twitter and Facebook pages daily. We are keen for volunteers to take photographs of events and carry out interviews of festival participants to generate publicity via social media. This is an opportunity for you to develop your communication, marketing and writing skills! Please note that you will need your own smartphone/tablet device for social media, or can come and use a HEART computer to post messages. You will need your own camera for photography.

Crafty Dragon Assistants:
Crafty Dragons is a children's activity area in the Atrium at The Forum, which is being run by HEART. Children and families will get the opportunity to do dragon craft activities. Volunteer tasks will include helping set up activities, encouraging members of the public to take part and supervising. It is a great opportunity to participate in heritage learning and engagement activities.

Post Festival Evaluation:
We will be undertaking detailed evaluation during the festival. Volunteers can help with data entry, evaluation analysis and supporting the production of the festival evaluation report. This is an exciting opportunity to gain professional experience in an office environment, contributing to a key strategic report, which will be shown to future funders and partner organisations.
