If you are interested in taking part in Heritage Open Days in 2011 please read below and get in touch.
Heritage Open Days is a hugely popular and important event on the city's calendar, offering a once-a-year chance to discover hidden architectural treasures, which keeps getting bigger every year.
This year, some of the events will be leisure and pastime themed in anticipation of the 2012 Olympic Games. Ideas for events might include open days relating to local sports clubs, teams or societies, or even an event to celebrate an individual's leisure/sports activity.
Of course your event doesn't have to be themed in this way, and regular, more traditional events are also welcommed to the programme.
The HODs programme involves open buildings, guided tours, exhibitions, talks, family activities, window displays, music recitals and re-enactments. Participating venues include museums and tourist attractions; private homes; churches and cathedrals; city centre shops, restaurants and pubs; and offices and workplaces.
If you own or run a building you think might be suitable to take part in Heritage Open Days in 2011, or you have an idea of an event you would like to run or please contact Sophie Cabot - sophiecabot@heritagecity.org. We would love to hear from you.
HODs will provide insurance, publicity, guidance and support for events, such as advice on funding and matching up with volunteers. The success of HODs is dependent on an army of passionate and dedicated volunteer stewards and HEART is always interested to hear from people interesting in volunteering to support events.
