The Great Heritage Hunt!

As part of this year's Heritage Open Days fun, HEART is organising a heritage hunt throughout Norwich inspired by the concept of geocaching! Geocaching is an outdoor treasure hunting game which uses GPS-enabled devices.

We've hidden ten HODs caches in various locations throughout Norwich which contain HODs badges and stickers for you to collect as well as a logbook for you to sign and write about your HODs experience. All you need is a pen and a GPS-enabled device or GPS-enabled mobile phone to find your way to a given set of GPS coordinates in ten locations to find the HODs 2012 caches.

 

Rules of the game

Find it, sign it and hide it! Do remember to put the cache back as you found it and to be respectful of the venues you are visiting. If you think a cache is missing or the logbook is full, give us a ring at 01603 305575 or e-mail research@heritagecity.org and we will sort it out!

 

The Adam and Eve Public House

Co-ordinates: N 52° 38.032 E 001° 18.189 

Opening times/cache is available at these dates and times: 6^th, 7^th, 8^th & 9^th Sept, 10am to 10pm

Type of cache: Clip-lock container

Any further details: Three gardeners tend these lovely flowers, please refrain from digging about and just have a good look out for a pink 'H' amongst the green!

Clue: Watch out for those thorns!

 

The Assembly House

Co-ordinates: N 52° 37.624 E 001° 17.445 

Opening times/cache is available at these dates and times: 6^th, 7^th & 8^th Sept, 10am to 4pm

Type of cache: Clip-lock container

Clue: Lovely view of the fountain from here!

 

The Cathedral of St John the Baptist

Co-ordinates: N 52° 37.762 E 001° 16.997 

Opening times/cache is available at these dates and times: 6^th, 7^th, 8^th & 9^th Sept, 10am to 7.30pm

Type of cache: Clip-lock container

Any further details: Have a wander and enjoy the architecture, both inside and outside.

Clue: There are various entrances to the Cathedral

 

The Great Hospital

Co-ordinates: N 52° 37.960 E 001° 18.243 

Opening times/cache is available at these dates and times: 6^th, 7^th & 8^th Sept, 10am to 4pm

Type of cache: Magnetic nanocache

Any further details: e.g. the Great Hospital is a now a village community for older people, please respect the privacy of people living here while you look for the tiniest cache in this HODs series.

Clue: Very, very close to the ground and iron.

 

The Guildhall

Co-ordinates: N 52° 37.747 E 001° 17.558 

Opening times/cache is available at these dates and times: 6^th, 7^th & 8^th, 10am to 5pm. 9^th Sept 1pm - 5pm

Type of cache: Film cannister

Clue: Hidden amongst silver, flint and crystal.

 

Norwich Castle Museum and Art Gallery

Opening times/cache is available at these dates and times: 6^th, 7^th, 8^th & 9^th Sept, 10am to 5pm

Type of cache: Clip-lock container

Clue: Honeysuckle grows somewhere up here

 

Norwich Cathedral

Co-ordinates: N 52° 37.850 E 001° 18.050 

Opening times/cache is available at these dates and times: 6^th, 7^th, 8^th & 9^th Sept, 10am to 5pm

Type of cache: Clip-lock container

Any further details: Fairly easy to find, please don't step on the herbs and flowerbeds.

Clue: Have a seat and enjoy the view of the spire!

 

Surrey House

Clue: e.g. Wedged well!

 

The Bishop's House Gardens

Co-ordinates: N 52° 37.954 E 001° 18.135 

Opening times/cache is available at these dates and times: 6^th & 7^th Sept, 10am to 4pm

Any further details: Please enjoy the garden and take care not to trample on the beautiful flowers!

Clue: Have a little stroll opposite the house and look closely at the ground.

 

St Julian's Church
