Norwich HEART has teamed up with immersive theatre company, Strange Fascination, to present ‘Secrets: The Mustard Twenties’ at the City’s iconic Guildhall on Friday 13 and Saturday 14 February 2015.
For an exciting and alternative Valentine’s night out, this unique 1920s murder mystery production promises to offer suspense, surprise and entertainment within the 600 year old Guildhall. Audiences will be encouraged to participate in the live theatre, explore the medieval Guildhall rooms for clues, grill the suspects and uncover the murderer!
Strange Fascination, the company that wowed audiences with Two Hearts and The Ripping last year, has written this new production especially for performance in the atmospheric surroundings of The Guildhall.
‘Secrets: The Mustard Twenties’ will introduce Squiffy Banningham to the audience, who is heir to his Daddy’s mustard empire and throwing a bash to celebrate his Pappy’s life. Some of the guests have secrets they would rather not share but Squiffy wants to tell all! The audience must work out who could be driven to murder and why?
As part of the production, audiences will take part in an infamous Mustard Club soiree, mingle with guests and of course the murderer, whilst enjoying a champagne cocktail and delicious savoury and sweet canapés.
Sarah Power, Education Development Officer at HEART and organiser of the event, said: “Norwich HEART is incredibly excited to host this brand new production in The Guildhall and can’t wait to experience the audience reaction to this unique and innovative style of theatre. The Guildhall is a wonderful venue for such an original performance with many floor levels and interesting rooms to explore during the evening. It’s also a chance for ‘molls’ and ‘dolls’ to put on their finest twenties fashion and really immerse themselves in the experience! We look forward to welcoming everyone on the night and hope that this performance will be the start of an inspiring and creative partnership with Strange Fascination.”
Paul Andrew Goldsmith, Managing Director of Strange Fascination, said: “We can’t wait to bring our individual style of theatre to this intriguing building. The mix of live theatre and historic venue will offer a unique experience for the audience.”
Simon Michael Morgan, also Managing Director of Strange Fascination, added: ”Our brand new immersive adventure at The Guildhall promises to offer lots of thrills and plenty of drama in Norwich this Valentine’s weekend.”
