Halls survey results

A big thank you to everyone who took the time to respond so thoroughly to our initial survey in autumn 2008.

The results have provided us with feedback from the local community and visitors to The Halls which helps us build up a broader picture of how people use the buildings and what improvements they would like to see. The results will feed into the plans to regenerate the buildings.

The two most mentioned elements that respondents felt are currently good about The Halls are their city centre location and sense of history. However there was also an almost unanimous feeling that the buildings needed improvements. In particular the strongest agreement was that better facilities are needed inside the buildings (including toilets, bar area and foyer area). There was also strong agreement that better acoustics, improved internal appearance and better disabled access are needed and that better historical information about The Halls‘ history should be made available in the buildings. Respondents who visit The Halls more infrequently also felt there should be a better / bigger range of events there.

The survey results clearly demonstrated the affection people have for the buildings as well as recognition of the need for improvements and it is great to see such support for our plans so early on in the process. We are keen to build on this so that local people feel they are a part of the regeneration process and that the transformed buildings will be genuinely responsive to the needs of local people.

There will be further opportunities to comment on the development of The Halls in the future. Please check back or send us your contact details to be kept up-to-date.
