Time and Space
Time and Space refers to historic public spaces as both the glue to bind together important heritage resources and the stage to develop outside urban activity, with particular reference to the mainland European influences on the development of the townscape. Specific aspirations here are:
Creating the Palette – to develop a high quality network of public space providing the ‘glue’ to unify diverse and currently unconnected heritage assets and a vehicle to greatly enhance outdoor activity;
Place Making – to create or give greater emphasis to ‘special places’ which individually exploit their heritage context to the full, provide a unique sense of place and provide the opportunity to meet a distinctive range of needs and activities; |
|
 |
The Quarters – creation of distinctive identities for parts of the centre linked to their development and heritage and, where appropriate, to the European influences which helped to shape them. |
